Howl-o-ween Aftermath 2015
Cleaning up after Mongo’s Halloween was not as easy as Dad had first expected. Mongo likes baths so that wasn’t the problem. Actually, Mongo is not that crayzy about the bath part, but he likes getting toweled off after baths, so he tolerates the bath part.
However, it took two shampoos to get the black hair paint off of Mongo. Interestingly, the area where he accidentally got hair sprayed took extra scrubbing beyond the two shampoos to come clean. That hairspray was resilient stuff; certainly more than a match for Seattle’s wintry weather!
When Mongo was all cleaned up, the hair-paint left a ring around the tub that Dr. Seuss would have been proud of.
Classic – Mongo’s First Howl-o-ween
Mongo’s Howl-o-ween
Tricia had already laid in a fair supply of candy for the Trick or Treaters. What we didn’t realize was that our neighborhood is one of the ones where people drive for miles to let their kids go out for Halloween. The houses are in a suburban spacing, so the candy density is high. There is no outlet, so traffic is minimal. And many of the homeowners warmly welcome the little undercover urchins by offering full-sized bags of M&M’s or Snickers bars.
In fact in talking to our neighbor, his first question on Saturday was, “How much candy do you have?”
Going for a Walk with Some Ducks
As Dad turned the corner out of the school yard, with his two charges in tow, he heard a duck quacking. Puzzled by this unusual sound, he began to scan the road around him, and then he saw it.
Almost directly across from him was a momma duck and a duckling. They were walking along the shoulder of the road, with Momma busily quacking. Where they had come from was not obvious to Dad, but wherever they were going, Momma seemed very determined to get there.
We have a winner!
Drewbie came up the stairs shaking his head.
“Someone ate my mummified fruit bat!”, he exclaimed. Drewbie was holding out a rectangular empty tin box.
Dad stared at him for a moment, a look of incomprehension on his face.
Mongo and Mushrooms
The winter rains had finally returned to Seattle. There would still be some very nice weather in the fall season, but the long dry summer had ended.
With just a sprinkle of water, the grass had started to green up. As Mongo, Spork, and Dad walked down the alley to the school yard, Mongo began rustling the grass and taking big bites of the new green blades. Dad remarked to himself that some little mushrooms had even popped up with just one night’s rain.
Mongo was so excited at the appearance of fresh grass, he gobbled up big mouthfuls of greenery all the way to the school.
When the crew got home, Dad fed the doggies, and fired up his coffee machine. Then Dad went to the door and asked “Who wants to get the paper?”
