Total Chaos and Fur Underwear

It was rainy and cold outside. Dad was getting ready to make a quick dash out to the store.
The trash was full, so Dad grabbed the bag from the bin and changed it out. He turned and stood holding the trash bag while out the door at the sheets of rain pouring from the dark skies, and decided not to take the trash to the right then. He’d take his chances that the weather would be better when he got back. Dad left the bag by the back door and threw on his water-resistant climbing hoodie and bolted for the car.
And so Dad left Mongo sitting home alone with a big bag full of egg shells, coffee grounds, and bacon soaked paper towels.
Poor Mongo; as if it weren’t bad enough to be left home, Dad had to leave a tempting bag of goodies on the floor in the kitchen.
The first inkling that Dad received suggesting that all was not well at home was a text from Drewbie. Read More…
Walking on Alki, Part 2.

A week after their last trip to Alki Point, Dad had another errand to run on the North End of the peninsula. Mongo looked bored, so Dad plopped him into the back of the pick-up and off they went. After dropping off some things at the depot, Dad thought it might be nice to stroll on the Alki trail again. Read More…
Today’s Science Experiment

Dad is all about efficiency. He measures the time it takes on various routes around the city to make sure he is always on the fastest route. And he often tries to multitask around the house to save time also. This time, his multitasking led to a new scientific breakthrough.

An Apple a Day…

Mongo has had his issues with apples. Last fall he learned that it is not always safe to pick apples up from the ground, since one can never be sure if a mean-spirited critter, like a yellow jacket, has taken up residence in the apple, and might object to becoming part of Mongo’s snack. But in the interest of continuing education…
You Know You’re a Dog Owner When…
You reach into the couch cushion to see what’s poking you in the back, and instead of finding loose change or an old potato chip, you find this;
Glowing White?

It was mid-winter. The time of year in the Pacific Northwest when the days are very short. It was dark when Dad took Mongo out for morning walks, and dark when he took him out for evening walks.
On one of these short dark days, Mongo found the door to the pantry slightly ajar. For Mongo, this is always an open invitation for noshing. The first thing to catch his interest that day was a five pound bag of rice.
Eating five pounds of rice actually takes longer than one might think. It is a lot of rice, even for Mongo. It turned out to be a whole day affair.
